About John Quattrocchi

Thank you for your interest.

First of all I want to say how extremely humbled I am by all the support and enthusiasm I have received from the Verona community, colleagues and friends.  On behalf of myself, Jackie and my family, I cannot thank you all enough. Let me tell you a little bit about myself...

Leadership and Proven Track Record

I am not running for council solely on the promise to improve our quality of life and outcomes in our local government.  I’ve actually done it - for a budget that represents more than 2x that of the town budget; overseeing six buildings, over 300 staff, and 2,250 students.  The council governs about one-third that number of staff.

Public Government Experience

I served on the Verona Board of Education for 15 years - that is five, three-year terms. During my tenure at the BOE, the standing of our schools reached an all-time high, with accolades from NJ Monthly, to the College Boards, to the Most Rigorous Schools. In 2018, Verona High School was recognized by the Jay Mathews Challenge Index within the top 1.5% of all schools in the U.S.: that is, #318 in the nation, #7 in N.J., and #2 among all conventional public high schools in N.J. This was our highest ranking ever, and it was no accident. This was a team effort that I am proud to have been a part of!

Together, we:

  • Overhauled our curriculum in every grade and every school:  Expanding course offerings, streamlining the honors program and eliminated all barriers to encourage our students to achieve.
  • Reigned in Spending: Verona is the 10th LOWEST of the 73 NJ School districts that the NJ Department of Education lists in our state category (K-12, 1800-3500 students).  Strong leadership does not require high spending, it requires teamwork and definitive goals. As a result, our total administrative spending is the 24th lowest of those 73 other districts, and we are the lowest spending in just about every category of the 10 districts in this list most like Verona (same demographic category and geography).
  • BOE Budget: Many know the BOE budget consumes 55% of our local property tax dollars - and that is correct.  At 55% Verona continues to consume less of a tax dollar than any of the 10 districts in our Comparison Group.  And we have held it at 55% every year since at least 2006.
  • 5-year Strategy & Plan: I originated and led the Board in adapting a true strategic vision.  One plan that calls for real collaboration and engagement with the community, Board, Administration, staff, students, parents, Town Manager, Town Council, Verona Police, etc.  Over 100 community members worked tirelessly over 6-8 months to develop and set our strategy and goals. That's teamwork!  It's not just a plan: it's an accountability model to ensure that  the Board and leadership maintain focus on the aspirations of our community, with annual progress reports. I will bring my strategic, long-range vision to our Town Council.
  • Founded VFEE (Verona Foundation for Excellence): I am also a founder of this valuable independent foundation that funds many innovative and extremely beneficial grant requests from the Verona schools staff. Today, my wife Jackie and I are both actively involved in promoting this organization and in securing outside funds and educational opportunities for our community via grants, teacher recognition and other activities.
Professional Background
My career is based on leadership, strategy, vision, focus, and planning; this means getting all sorts of constituents aligned and working together. As Global Head of Product Development and Strategy for my division at Barclays, a global financial services bank, I manage a team of over 30 professionals located around the globe.  I serve as a member of the Management Committee for the division.

Family Life

Where to start with my family? I have a beautiful and intelligent wife, Jackie, who is my friend and my partner at everything. Together we raised amazing young women: Alexa is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW/LSSW) in the Nashville Public School System; Bianca is a Senior at Penn State University studying Cyber Security and Risk Assessment.  She will be working in that field at Price Waterhouse Coopers after graduating in May.  Colette is a senior at Verona High School and will attend Monmouth University in the fall to pursue a career in orthodontics.  We have two labradoodles, Marcus and Maximus. I graduated from St. John's University in New York with a degree in Finance.

 When I am Not Working

Down time is important to refresh the mind as much as the body.  I enjoy time with my family and friends at the beach, I play guitar and bass, and I am an avid reader.  I love to work on our home, whether its for maintenance/repair or renovation.  We are blessed with a large extended family - and we are very close, so gatherings are always fun (and a bit noisy).

Please feel free to drop me a line at and follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (links on the right side of the page).

Yours truly,

John Quattrocchi for Verona
